04pm anchor is on the ground, we are in providencia right in front of isla catalina.... swimming and then to harbour for clearance!
after a quiet night under motor navigating through the reefs in front of cabo gracias a dios we are back in the open sea now under full sails and motor. its very cloudy and some rainsqualls are to see further away. a king mackerel went on our hook and will be eaten by tomorrow lunchtime. no sun goes down and we hope for a peacefull night and tomorrow arriving to providencia in the afternoon.
what a night!!! wind starting to turn crazy and jumping from one direction other in a second, heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms ...hey, we booked sunshine and easy sailingweather!!!! so we spent the night running here and there and taking sails down and up again und te "flyer" went into two peaces. all got wet and the whole morning the same shit....now we are motorsailing into the area of the cape "gracias a dios" ...you can imagine when we have that behind us we know why they called it that way;)
beside all this little hazzle here and there everything goes well so far!
350NM still to sail to reach providencia and 210 behind us. ...we are slowly and the weatheris nice but the wind does not exactly do what weatheforcast promised...so our cours is a bit to far south and we will probably have to use the engine tomorrow to get around the cape "gracias a dios" (honduras). this morning a dorado went on the hook and into the pan for lunch;)
we are going slowly southeastwards...4 knots only because of a 1.5 knots current against us. the weather is great and it feels like sunday...everybody on the upperdeck taking sunbath and a bucket-saltwatershower from time to time to refresh.... no fish on the hooks today, so we will have jerk-chicken for dinner. position is 120 nautical miles south-south-east isla mujeres
after two busy days in isla mujeres we are back on sea with course to cabo "gracias a dios" (honduras) wich we have to round to get to providencia island. 6 pips on board and pretty weather and all sails are set and the wind is as it was made just for us;) for lunch we had fajitas with a lot of different things to put on and for dinner we are back to eat greman bread as we have baught whole wheat flour in mexico. a barracuda went on one of our hooks but it was such a baby that we throw him back to the sea so he can send a bigger brother on our hook.
since 30 minutes we are on the pier in isla mujeres and waiting for the authorities. we sailed since yesterday morning and reached isla mujeres by sunrise under sails...pretty;)
now we are almost arriving to the westtip of cuba. the wind slept the whole night long so we had to motor again slowly westwards and now after breakfast we set sails again and we are doing 3 knots ....easy going
yesterday we had two fresh caught barracudas for lunch and lamb legs for dinner. weather is neice and sunny.
no wind at all during the night so we motored slowly westwards in a very calm
sea and this morning 8am some wind picked up and we stopped the motor and now we
are sailing backwinds and the big squaresail towards west with 5 knots.
we are 15 nautical miles south of isla de juventud easttip.
we have left cienfuegos at 11am with 11 souls on board heading for isla mujeres
in mexico. the weather is very calm and so we are forced to motor westwards
untill finding some breeze to sail.
